Speakers’ Roundtable in Singapore 2025

Delivering Value and Efficacy in Oversight and Legislative Implementation

County Assembly Speakers will have an opportunity to participate in the Inaugural Speakers’ Roundtable, scheduled for May 19–25, 2025, in Singapore. This high-level program is designed to equip legislative leaders with the skills and knowledge to enhance oversight capacity, legislative implementation, and public engagement within county assemblies. They will gain practical exposure through a blend of interactive workshops, strategic discussions, peer learning and benchmarking visits to Singapore’s top legislative institutions.

County Assembly Speakers in Kenya play a vital role in promoting democratic governance through legislative oversight, transparency, and public accountability. However, challenges such as limited legislative tracking mechanisms, non-compliance with constitutional mandates and insufficient public participation continue to impact legislative efficacy. In response, the Speakers’ Roundtable seeks to build capacity in critical areas of governance, foster international collaboration, and support the development of sustainable strategies for improving legislative functions in counties.

Key focus areas include:

• Effective oversight and implementation
• Public engagement strategies
• Addressing constitutional non-compliance
• Building international collaboration

They will also engage in cultural excursions, networking sessions and a post-program action planning session.
